Microsoft is Ending SharePoint Online Public News Feed in June 2018

Technology is subject to changes on a constant basis. The latest news coming up proves exactly that. Microsoft, global technology leader, has a massive news for all companies providing SharePoint development services in the world.  The company is now planning to end SharePoint online public news feed for office 365 tendencies.

The news has been confirmed by Mr. Bill Baer of Microsoft through a Friday announcement. This change could be implemented anytime during the summer. The company may also execute this change during the month of June. This change is definitely going to affect companies using “public newsfeed” as it will become “read-only” for them. In other words, companies will no longer be able to modify or update their news feed. So now it is high time for all the SharePoint development companies to upgrade their SharePoint development practices accordingly.

Now Microsoft is suggesting all of the companies using News Feed to use some different options like Team News. Team News is actually a feature that companies utilize for broadcasting all “key events” and “accomplishments”. This list of option suggested by the company also includes Communication Sites and Yammer. Communication sites help companies share news and statuses, reports and other vital information whereas Yammer, a chat service” helps improve engagement of members of the organization. Therefore, companies providing SharePoint development services need to change their SharePoint development practices accordingly.

Yammer is now ready for organizations to use. Moreover, Mr. Bill Baer has said one thing clearly that this change planned in the month of June will not affect Site Feed Feature and SharePoint Server Users. The company currently bringing this change in Office 365 only.
